BIOPSY

Wednesday 23 June 2010
The day of the biopsy, hell am I nervous, but Jayne strong as ever gets us to the hospital on time, Western General Edinburgh, Today the biopsy is being performed by Dr Glancy, turned out another fine doctor, well what would you expect, another gent, explained everything and asking if I had any questions. Was put into a private room courtesy of the NHS, just settling in and chap on the door, An old colleague from the airport, now working for the NHs Chief David, was nice to see him again and Dave did his best to settle me down.......More needles in arm,,, (think you can guess that I hate needles lol) and left to relax till they were ready for me. 11.30 and porter calls to take me down to theatre,, stomach in knots now, said cherio to my darling wife and trundled away. Into theatre and introduced to the team, there were about 9 of them and I'm sorry but I forgot most of your names, but so relaxing and comforting.
Beacause of the proceedure they have to keep you awake, SHIT....... but Dr glancy assured me all would be well,,,, slight prick in the stomach to kill pain.....YEAH RIGHT.......anyway away they went taking approx 6 sections from my Liver for examination...... sorry but hell was that bloody painfull, but No Pain No Gain.... Dr Glancy was very comforting and reasuring and after about an hour I was ready to be taken back to ward. For the next 6 hours the doctors and nurses were superbe,, checking me every 15 mins making sure I was in no pain etc etc.
Eventually at 8pm we were allowed to go home, still feeling numb and in a little discomfort...........
But after a good night sleep here I am wrighting up my Blog.

Now all we can do is wait,,,,,,,,,, the tests are being done as I wright and hopefully we should get the results within a week..........................I hope that by reading this blog people can get a better understanding on how you can fight diseases, especially with the love of your family, friands and neighbours, ( I have been overwhelmed by the support that I have been given, and not really wanting to name names, But Jayne my wife, Lauren my daughter, Mum and Dad, Sadie, philip, and steve, robert, all my friends at work Fiona, anne, and charlotte, amd all my friends in the village.... THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT) You will never know what it means to me. TA

So at the moment thats where we are,,,,,,,,,,, Will keep you updated as to the results, the outcome and then " THE FIGHT " Be safe all DEREK

  1. Well babe, what can I say... you were sepcial when I met you, but now every day we spend together is even more special.
Like with everything else over the last 13 year together, we will get through this together. I'm glad to see you not lost your sense of humour...
Now, you have got my full fat cooking to look foward to - as recommended by the dietician, healthy eating is out of the window. You can have as much butter (no more low fat spread), cream as you like so we can fatten you up as there are lots of things that we want to do!
As per Derek, thank you to everyone for their kind support - this is important to me too. But also important that we try and keep as normal as possible as there is plenty of life in the old prawn yet.

    Love you loads babe
